Visit Fo Guang Shan Temple
Located on Tongling Road, Dashu District, Kaohsiung City, Fo Guang Shan Temple is the headquarters of the Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Organization and the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. This spiritual complex is massive in scale and has unique architecture, and is known as the "Buddhist capital" of Taiwan.
The temple is built on a mountaintop, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The Fo Guang Shan Monastery covers an area of 100 hectares, with a lotus-shaped layout. The temple's architecture is inspired by the Stupa and Mahabodhi Temple in the Buddhist holy land of Bodh Gaya in India, but still retains the unique identity of ancient Chinese Buddhism.
Visiting the temple, visitors will be overwhelmed by the giant Buddha statue of Quang Son, the tallest in the world, along with massive architectural works including 8 stupas, 4 Chanh Giac Towers, 48 underground palaces, 8 heavenly palaces and tens of thousands of large and small Buddha statues. In particular, the temple is also the place to keep the Buddha's tooth relic preserved at the Jade Buddha Temple along with many other Buddhist treasures and antiques.
