At 8:00 p.m. tonight (January 2), the Vietnamese football team will face Thailand in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final at Viet Tri Stadium. This is considered a "dream" final for Southeast Asian football because these are two fierce opponents, competing with each other in the region.
Today, fans from all over the country flocked to Phu Tho, ready to cheer for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team. The demand for accommodation increased.
According to the People's Committee of Viet Tri City, the capacity of hotels in the city center and the area near Viet Tri Stadium reached 70 - 90% during the days when the Vietnamese football team competed in the ASEAN Cup 2024. The most crowded accommodation establishments are Saigon - Phu Tho Hotel, Muong Thanh, SOJO, Viet Tri Garden...
According to a survey by Lao Dong, most fans choose motels and hotels located on Hung Vuong Avenue, Hai Ba Trung Street, and Tien Dung Street (Viet Tri City) to rest. These accommodations are only a few hundred meters from Viet Tri Stadium, making them convenient for travel.
Ms. Nguyen Vi Hong Thanh - Manager of SOJO Hotel Viet Tri, estimated that the hotel's room occupancy rate on January 2 was over 90%.
"We have prepared carefully to ensure the best experience for guests. The hotel has arranged a football viewing area in the hotel lobby, where guests can cheer together, creating a vibrant and cohesive atmosphere," said Ms. Thanh.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Thu, owner of a hotel on Hung Vuong Street (Viet Tri City) said: "Because the Vietnam team plays every other day, many guests have booked many days in advance. Before the ASEAN Cup final, as of yesterday (January 1), we were "full" of rooms."
Despite the sudden increase in the number of visitors during this time, the facilities did not increase room rates. "We ourselves are also Phu Tho residents and love the Vietnamese team, we want to create the best conditions for fans to come here to watch football," Mr. Thu affirmed.
The owner of a motel on Tien Dung Street also said that the average number of guests had increased by 40% compared to normal days. By the evening of January 1, about 70% of the guests who had booked in advance had checked in. The remaining guests checked in at noon on January 2. Most of the guests who traveled in groups, associations and families should stay until 10am on January 3.
A representative of the Phu Tho Province Tourism Association said that not only other accommodation facilities in the center of Viet Tri City have quite high occupancy rates on match days, if guests contact late, there may be no rooms left.
However, tourists do not need to worry too much about accommodation, transportation or food..., because Viet Tri City in particular and Phu Tho Province in general are used to organizing large events, especially sports events. Tourism infrastructure ensures conditions to serve tourists during peak periods.
The Vietnamese team's determination and unbeaten performance at the 2024 ASEAN Cup (up to the semi-finals) has given fans more spirit to come to the stadium to watch and cheer on coach Kim Sang-sik and his team. This international tournament creates conditions to stimulate tourism in Viet Tri city.
