The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the People's Committees of communes and wards to review, update information, monitor, inspect and supervise the activities of tourist accommodation establishments in the management area.
At the same time, it is recommended that the Lao Cai Tourism Association disseminate information about the list of tourist accommodation establishments that have been recognized as being classified to members; encourage tourist accommodation establishments to improve service quality, reputation, and tourism brands.





The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also recommends that organizations and individuals providing accommodation services have been recognized as maintaining the quality of tourist accommodation establishments according to the recognized types and classes. When the status recognition period expires, no status board recognizing tourist accommodation establishments will be hung and no words "star" and star image will be used to advertise the status of tourist accommodation establishments.
Accordingly, Lao Cai province currently has 2,138 accommodation facilities with about 20,600 rooms and 740 homestays. In recent times, along with promoting the potential and strengths of climate, natural landscapes and cultures of ethnic groups, accommodation establishments as well as tourism and travel businesses have continuously invested in facilities and improved the quality of services. Thereby, creating many attractive tourism products to attract tourists.




After the merger, Lao Cai owns a particularly rich tourism resource system, diverse in types, outstanding in identity, and unique in landscape. From famous destinations such as Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Y Ty of Lao Cai (old), there are now Mu Cang Chai, Suoi Giang, Van Chan, Tram Tau, Yen Binh - unique tourism symbols of Yen Bai (old).
That combination creates a comprehensive, linked and mutually supportive tourism ecosystem, capable of meeting modern tourism trends: short-term, green experience, exploring indigenous culture, resorts and community tourism.
In the first 7 months of 2025, the whole province is estimated to welcome 6.7 million visitors, of which international visitors are estimated at 820,867; total revenue is estimated at VND 29,043 billion.
