Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy - Chairman of An Giang Provincial Tourism Association said that compared to last year, it is forecast that the number of domestic tourists will increase quite a lot, besides, the international tourist market is growing well. Currently, businesses have welcomed a large number of tourists for the summer, which is a very positive sign.
Promotion and tourism stimulus programs focus on unique tourism products such as sea and island tourism, ecotourism, cultural and culinary tourism... At the same time, the province will also continue to improve the quality of tourism service products, improve tourism infrastructure, and train high-quality human resources to meet the increasing needs of tourists. Local tourism businesses have also proactively improved service quality, ensuring to bring the best experiences to tourists.
Mr. Huy also informed that recently the Association organized the Phu Quoc Open Pickleball Tournament, which was initially successful, so it wants to continue to promote sports tourism to develop more.
After participating in the tournament, businesses also plan to organize the tournament. The advantage is that we have many fields that are very convenient for organization. Initially, units planned to organize weekends, tourists could register to participate as a type of additional service. Instead of going squid fishing, fishing, outdoor experience services, diving... you can choose to participate in pickleball competitions in Phu Quoc's schedule," Mr. Huy shared.
Units will consider the situation, if the number of visitors grows well, they will promote it to be organized daily as a new service for tourists to choose from. Sports tourism in this direction is new and will contribute to attracting more tourists. Sports tourism is one of the fields that can be said to be a trend today in the world. Tourism combined with sports culture can be one of the opportunities to help businesses in the tourism industry have more new products, new services and we can access new markets," Mr. Huy added.
Through the tournament, the Phu Quoc special zone government also aims to spread the spirit of sports in the community, especially developing sports culture associated with tourism, creating a unique tourism product contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic, modern, friendly and hospitable Phu Quoc to friends and tourists at home and abroad.
According to the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, the total number of tourists coming to the province during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival on March 10th of the lunar calendar, April 30th and May 1st holidays has increased quite high compared to the same period, focusing on sea and island tourism, ecotourism, and garden experiences...
In May 2026, An Giang province is estimated to welcome more than 2.48 million visitors (up 4.3% over the same period), of which it is estimated to welcome more than 166,000 international visitors (up 5.9% over the same period); Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 5,281 billion VND (up 2.9% over the same period).
Accumulated for 5 months of 2026, An Giang province is estimated to welcome more than 13.3 million visitors (up 12.1% compared to the same period, reaching 53.2% of the annual plan), of which it is estimated to welcome more than 1.18 million international visitors (up 48.4% compared to the same period, reaching 55.9% of the annual plan). Total revenue from tourism is estimated at more than 33,000 billion VND (up 37.2% compared to the same period, reaching 47.4% of the annual plan).
For Phu Quoc special zone alone, May 2026 is estimated to welcome more than 897,000 visitors (up 19.4% over the same period), of which international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 165,000 visitors (up 8.2% over the same period); Total tourism revenue is estimated at 4,142 billion VND (up 12% over the same period).
Accumulated for 5 months of 2026, Phu Quoc special zone is estimated to welcome more than 4.76 million visitors (up 34.2% compared to the same period, reaching 56.1% of the annual plan); of which, it is estimated to welcome more than 1.17 million international visitors (up 51% compared to the same period, reaching 58% of the annual plan); Total revenue from tourism is estimated at more than 26,900 billion VND (up 50.4% compared to the same period, reaching 59.3% of the annual plan).
