Tropical storm Alfred is forecast to make landfall on the coast of Queensland and northern New South Wales (NSW) late on March 5 or March 6 with a level 2 intensity, bringing strong winds and heavy rain, according to 9News.
Due to complicated weather developments, airlines have quickly adjusted their schedules to ensure passenger safety.
Hundreds of flights have been canceled due to the impact of the storm, according to News.com.au.
Qantas and Jetstar have announced the cancellation of many domestic flights to and from the Queensland and New South Wales regions.
In Brisbane, Qantas stopped operating from the afternoon of March 5, Jetstar temporarily stopped from noon the same day to noon on March 6. As of 5:00 p.m. on March 6 (local time), Brisbane Airport announced that all flights were canceled until further notice.

A Qantas representative said that the airline is prioritizing the departure of passengers from Brisbane before the storm makes landfall. At the same time, the airline also supports free flight days change or refunds in the form of flight distance savings for affected customers.
Virgin Australia announced a temporary suspension of all flights to and from Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ballina on March 6 and 7, expected to resume operations on March 8.
