On the evening of January 5, the Vietnamese team will face Thailand again in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
2-3 days ago, right after the first leg of the final ended, many Vietnamese fans went to Thailand to prepare to cheer for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
Ms. Dam Khanh (Cam Pha, Quang Ninh) - who has followed the Vietnamese national teams for nearly 15 years - shared: "My group of about 10 fans arrived in Thailand on January 3. We are ready for the upcoming match.
Before that, I and many other fans were also present at Viet Tri Stadium to watch the first leg of the final, then moved straight to Noi Bai airport to go to Bangkok (Thailand)."
Ms. Khanh said that the total cost for this trip is about 10-13 million VND, including airfare, hotel and some other expenses. The female fan from Quang Ninh and her friends booked tickets to Thailand before the first leg of the semi-finals (December 30, 2024) ended.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hoang Mai (Ha Dong, Hanoi) said: "One day after the first leg final, on January 3, I booked a ticket to Thailand. At that time, the ticket price was much higher, about 6 million VND. I planned to return on January 8, so the return ticket was cheaper, at 3 million VND.
Along with the expenses for hotel, transportation, football tickets... the trip cost about more than 15 million VND. I am very happy to be able to accompany the Vietnam team these days."
A technology taxi driver in Thailand said: "In the past 2-3 days, I have mainly received rides around Rajamangala Stadium. There was a fair recently so there were many people coming and going. I took Vietnamese customers here to watch football, some people asked me how to buy tickets."
Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung, a 46-year-old architect living in Cambodia, also traveled a long distance to get to Thailand. He drove from Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to the Poipet border gate, a distance of nearly 500 km, then hired a Thai driver to continue his journey to the capital Bangkok.
Anh Hung is the person who helped U23 Vietnam in the 2022 U23 Southeast Asian Championship campaign. At that time, many members of U23 Vietnam were infected with COVID-19. Anh Hung and his wife cooked, brought medicine, and steamed leaves to the players, and even drove from the border to bring players to Cambodia to compete.
