"Dalat Spring Concert" is directed by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, Lam Dong Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism in coordination with Da Lat City People's Committee, Lam Dong Center for Culture and Arts and IB Group Vietnam.
This is an international music project with the participation of world band legend Boney M. Liz Mitchell, the band Joy and Samantha Fox... taking place at 7:30 p.m. on December 21 at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province.
Famous singers and bands of the 1970s and 1980s promise to bring vibrant melodies familiar to millions of Vietnamese audiences across generations.
According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, "Dalat Spring Concert" is expected to be held annually to spread the image of Da Lat as a creative city in the field of music recognized by UNESCO and towards building Da Lat as a world-class music destination, concretizing Da Lat's commitment when joining the network of creative cities in the field of music of UNESCO.
Founded in 1976 in Germany with 4 members, the Boney M band was loved by audiences with a series of immortal songs such as: "Daddy Cool", "Sunny" (1976) and then "Rivers of Babylon", "Rasputin" (1978)... The band also became a monument of Disco and Reggae music in the world in the 1970s and is still considered one of the world's legendary bands.
Boney M has had over 40 hit singles and released at least 30 albums, with an impressive total of sales of 250 million copies worldwide, including compilations and reissues. The group has won numerous prestigious awards and multiple gold and platinum certifications for albums such as “Nightflight to Venus”...
Along with Boney M.Liz Mitchell, the famous Austrian band Joy also promises to delight visitors with the song “Touch by Touch”. Returning to Vietnam after 5 years, the 2-member band will bring vibrant Disco melodies that are no less sweet, passionate and inspiring.
Unlike Boney M and Joy, for the first time, the “Queen of 1980s Pop” – Samantha Fox will perform in Vietnam. The once-famous British sex symbol conquered the charts with hit songs such as: Touch Me (I Want Your Body), Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now, Just One Night, Wanna Please Me, I Only Wanna Be With You...
International music project in response to the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2024. Visitors will be immersed in a nostalgic musical space, blending into timeless melodies and immortal songs that every generation of music lovers loves.
“This is the first annual international music project in Da Lat following international format standards, and will become a destination for world music legends in Vietnam,” said Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong - Chairman of IB Group Vietnam - Production Director of the program.
Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan - Vice Chairwoman of Da Lat City People's Committee also emphasized that the program has the connecting nature to help Da Lat have more creative music spaces of international standards. When joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Da Lat commits to participating in activities in the next 3 to 5 years. International artists coming to Da Lat will be a way to promote tourism attraction for Da Lat, Lam Dong.
In particular, Dalat Spring Concert will not sell tickets and this is Dalat's gratitude to tourists as well as creating conditions for international artists to come to Dalat, connecting performance spaces with international class and quality.
