Ho Chi Minh City - On the occasion of National Day September 2nd, Ho Chi Minh City increased buses and metro line No. 1 to serve people going to watch fireworks, in which many routes are free.

Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center has just issued a Plan to serve the travel needs of people and tourists during the peak period of National Day 2/9.

According to the plan, the average public passenger transport volume during the holiday is expected to reach about 280,000 passengers/day, an increase of 29% compared to the same period last year.

Increase 761 trips on 10 bus routes

In order to ensure passenger clearance at gateway traffic hubs, inter-provincial bus stations will increase 487 trips on 5 routes including: routes No. 13, 94, 171, 61-3 and 61-8.

In addition, the group of routes connecting Tan Son Nhat International Airport including routes 103, 109, 152, 72-1 and 72-2 are also closely monitored to flexibly adjust frequency according to the actual passenger volume landing at the airport.

On this occasion, a total of 10 bus routes were strengthened with 761 trips serving during the holidays. City residents are exempted from tolls on 134 bus routes.

Regarding operation, the Public Transport Management Center allows transport units to flexibly increase trips, not exceeding 10% of the plan, in cases where the number of passengers at the terminal or on the bus reaches 30% or more of the capacity even before departure time.

In case the demand exceeds 10% of the planned increased trips, the bus company must directly report to the Center's leaders to flexibly mobilize vehicles from low-yield routes to peak routes or mobilize buses to relieve passengers for inter-provincial bus stations.

Metro Line 1 runs 264 trips on September 2nd.

For metro line No. 1, on September 2, 264 train trips are expected to be implemented, serving people for free.

In addition to buses and the metro, the demand for public bicycles is forecast to increase. Management agencies will strengthen bicycle coordination at stations around Ben Thanh station and City Opera House station.

The increase in vehicles and service trips is to meet the travel needs of people and tourists during the peak period of National Day 2/9.
