The watercraft flying service to see Ha Long Bay from above officially stopped operating after 12 years of operation.

Hai Au Aviation Company (HAA) has just announced that it will stop operating seaplane sightseeing services in Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) from April 1, 2026.

Confirming with Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the airline said that this decision was made in the context of changing business orientation.

This airline was established in 2011, pioneering the provision of sightseeing and private charter services by seaplane in Vietnam. In September 2014, the airline operated its first commercial flight from Noi Bai International Airport to Ha Long Bay.

The seaplane line was officially put into operation by the company from 2014. The seaplane flying over Ha Long Bay is Cessna Caravan C208B-EX, manufactured in 2014 and directly imported from the US. To be able to take off and land on water and operate safely in Ha Long Bay, the seaplane is equipped with 2 floats under the fuselage, and equipped with modern aviation equipment such as weather radar, storm tracking system and GPS positioning.

The Ha Long Bay sightseeing flight experience lasts about 25 minutes, with ticket prices starting from 1.6 million VND for Vietnamese tourists and 2 million VND for international tourists. In addition, tourists can choose charter flights or sightseeing flights from Hanoi to Tuan Chau Island with prices starting from 9 million VND.

Each seaplane trip has a maximum capacity of 14 people, including 12 passengers and two pilots. Passengers can also film, take photos or livestream from an altitude of about 500 - 3,000m above sea level.

Previously, in 2023, Quang Ninh stopped the service of flying to see Ha Long Bay from above by helicopter.
