On the morning of February 21, 2026 (5th day of Tet), at the Go Dong Da Special National Relic Site (Dong Da ward, Hanoi), the 237th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory (1789 - 2026) took place.
The opening ceremony took place at 8:30 am. However, from early morning, the Dong Da Cultural Park grounds were crowded with people coming to watch the rituals and prepare to offer incense in front of the statue of Emperor Quang Trung.
The ceremony part is solemnly organized with processions, ceremonies, and traditional incense offerings. The highlight this year is the epic art program elaborately staged by the Central Theater, combined with festival drums and Binh Dinh Gia martial arts performances, recreating the rapid military advance spirit of the Tay Son insurgents.
After the ceremony part, the festival part will include activities such as gymnastics performances, Chinese chess, human chess, martial arts performances... attracting a large number of people to watch. Many families bring young children to participate, both spring travel and learning history.
My family attends festivals every year. This is an opportunity for children and grandchildren to learn more about national traditions, to see the heroic atmosphere in the heart of the Capital," Mr. Nguyen Van Duong (Dong Da ward) shared.
Security and order assurance, traffic diversion, and fire prevention and fighting are built in detail; a surveillance camera system is installed, and 6 mobile toilets are arranged around the festival venue. After the opening ceremony, people will be allowed to offer incense at the Temple of King Quang Trung from 10 am this morning.
The organizing committee tightens management, preventing the occurrence of trading in the relic protection area, not selling street vendors, not organizing offensive services; parking lots are arranged free of charge to create favorable conditions for people and tourists.
Go Dong Da Festival 2026 takes place in two days, February 21st and 22nd, with a scale of about 1,500 people participating in the main rituals and activities. The synchronous preparation and the spirit of pride of the local community have contributed to creating a solemn and vibrant festival season, continuing to affirm the vitality of a typical historical relic in the heart of Hanoi.
