The North is experiencing the second day of the strongest cold air wave since the beginning of winter 2024.
In the Northern region, it is cold, in mountainous areas there are places with severe cold; the lowest temperature during this cold air wave is generally from 14-17 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 11-13 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas there are places below 10 degrees Celsius. In the North Central region, it is cold; the lowest temperature during this cold air wave is generally from 15-18 degrees Celsius.
This morning, the temperature at some tourist destinations such as Mau Son mountain peak (Lang Son) dropped to 5 degrees Celsius, while Dong Van (Ha Giang) recorded a temperature of more than 8 degrees Celsius.
Areas such as Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) and Trung Khanh (Cao Bang) recorded temperatures of around 9 degrees Celsius.
Residents and tourists in mountainous areas should wear warm clothes when going outdoors. In particular, they should use fog lights at night and early in the morning, and control their speed when traveling on mountain passes.
In Hanoi, the weather is not as rainy as yesterday, December 7, but the Northeast monsoon is blowing strongly. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 14-17 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air will affect a wide area in the North until December 10 before weakening.
By December 12, a new cold front will strengthen, pulling temperatures down.
The Central region is also affected by cold air, with temperatures this morning in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An around 16-17 degrees Celsius.
The South and Central Highlands from December 7-10 will be affected by diffuse cold air, with cloudy skies at night and in the morning. From December 11-14, cold air combined with easterly wind disturbances will cause heavy rain in the Central Highlands and thunderstorms in the South.
The Central Highlands temperature dropped below 26 degrees Celsius, while the South fluctuated from 29-32 degrees Celsius.
