The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that on August 11, the low-lying and midland regions of northern Vietnam will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with 15-30mm of rainfall, with localized areas receiving over 70mm of rain.
From the night of August 11 to August 12, thunderstorms are expected to spread across the entire northern region. The total rainfall within a 24-hour period may reach 30-70mm, with some areas receiving over 180mm, posing a risk of flash flooding, landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying, urban areas. The situation is expected to persist in the northern region until around August 15.
The meteorological agency has issued a warning, stating that in this rain event, heavy rainfall tends to occur in the late afternoon and evening, over a narrow area (at the provincial level) with high intensity, thereby increasing the risk of flash flooding, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in mountainous provinces.
Therefore, tourists should consider choosing suitable destinations such as museums, theaters, shopping centers... and avoid areas near rivers, streams, lakes, and construction sites during heavy rain and regularly update weather forecasts to make necessary adjustments.
In the meantime, the Central Region will maintain a hot and extremely hot weather pattern, with temperatures reaching 36-38 degrees Celsius in some areas, and over 38 degrees Celsius in others. The hot weather in the Central Region is expected to persist in the coming days.
