According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 p.m. on December 21, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 5.2 degrees North latitude; 113.3 degrees East longitude, in the southern sea area of the South China Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting to level 8; moving in an East-Northeast direction, at a speed of 5-10 km/h.
In the next 48 to 72 hours, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of 10-15km per hour. The southern sea area of the South China Sea will have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, waves of 3.0-5.0m high; rough seas.
From the night of December 22, the sea area south of Truong Sa archipelago has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, waves 4-6m high; rough seas.
From the night of December 23-26, in the Central and South Central regions, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 100-300mm, locally over 500mm.
From December 24-25, in the Eastern Central Highlands, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 60-120mm, locally over 200mm.
Residents and tourists should be on guard against heavy rains that can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.
