According to the latest Northeast Monsoon bulletin from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on September 20, a cold air mass is moving south from the North.
It is forecasted that around the night of September 21 and early morning of September 22, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then spread to most of the Northwest region and some places in the North Central region. The wind will change to the Northeast at level 3 inland, and level 4-5 in coastal areas.
By September 22-23, the weather in the North and Thanh Hoa will turn cool, and some places in the mountainous areas of the North will be cold. During this cold spell, the lowest temperature in the North and Thanh Hoa will generally be between 20-23 degrees Celsius, and some places in the mountainous areas will be below 19 degrees Celsius.
From early morning on September 22, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind gradually increased to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8. The sea was rough, with waves 1.5-2.5m high.
It is forecasted that from early morning of September 22 to September 23, in the midlands, plains and coastal areas of the North, from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50-150mm, locally over 200mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure; cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
