According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the area from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa has scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, some places over 80mm. Warning of the risk of local heavy rain (>80mm/6 hours).
Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Central Highlands and Southern regions have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15-30mm, locally over 70mm (thunderstorms are concentrated in the late afternoon and night).
The thunderstorms are caused by the equatorial low pressure trough with an axis at about 7-10 degrees North latitude combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances affecting the weather in the Southern region. The equatorial low pressure trough has a stable intensity, and by around October 13-14, its axis will gradually weaken to the South.
The Central provinces will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain on the night of October 8 and on October 9. Meanwhile, people and tourists in the North can enjoy sunny weather until the end of this week.
