Lam Dong - Along with developing infrastructure and products, the tourism industry focuses on improving the quality of human resources to welcome international visitors.

Anticipating the recovery and growth trend of the international tourist market, Lam Dong's tourism industry is focusing on improving the quality of human resources, considering this as a foundation for developing professional, sustainable and integrated tourism.

Currently, the whole province has about 90,000 workers in the tourism sector, of which about 38,000 workers directly work at accommodation establishments, travel businesses, tourist areas and destinations, and support services. Young workers aged 18-35 account for more than 60%, and about 75% have been trained and fostered in professional skills.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the past 5 years, the unit has organized nearly 50 professional training classes for more than 3,900 students, and at the same time gradually standardized the training program according to Vietnamese and ASEAN tourism vocational standards. Currently, there are more than 15 vocational training and education institutions participating in training industries related to tourism, creating human resources to serve the development of the industry.

However, the problem of high-quality human resources is still a challenge for many businesses. Leaders of the Lam Dong Tourism Association said that human resources with professional qualifications, foreign languages and professional skills have not yet met development needs, especially the team of international tour guides with practicing certificates, proficiency in foreign languages and digital skills.

Leaders of the Lam Dong Tourism Association said that many travel businesses are facing difficulties when needing to arrange local tour guides to serve large-scale international tourist groups, especially during the peak tourist season. This is considered one of the bottlenecks that needs to be removed soon if Lam Dong wants to expand the international tourist market.

According to the orientation to 2030, the tourism industry sets a target of over 90% of workers being trained in professional skills and foreign languages; 100% of officials working in state management of tourism are professionally trained. At the same time, priority is given to training in fields such as international hotel management, destination management, international tour guides, smart tourism, green tourism and community tourism.

To realize this goal, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province said that training will be closely linked to the needs of businesses and the development trends of the international market.

The focus is not only on increasing the number of workers but also improving the quality of human resources, promoting foreign language training, digital skills and vocational skills for the direct labor force.

This is expected to be an important foundation for Lam Dong tourism to improve its competitiveness, ready to welcome a wave of international visitors in the new development phase.
