From January 25 to February 25, 2025, the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province coordinated with tourism units in the province to organize the Old Tet Market Space Program in Hoa Lu ancient town (Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh).
This event aims to preserve good cultural values, giving people the opportunity to learn about unique customs and practices associated with the spring of the Vietnamese people.
Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that 2024 is a year marking outstanding success for Ninh Binh tourism industry with many cultural and tourism events of the province organized domestically and internationally. The whole Ninh Binh province welcomed 8.7 million tourists, an increase of 30% compared to 2023, including 1.5 million international visitors.
To achieve the goal of welcoming 9.1 million visitors by 2025, including 1.8 million international visitors, and gradually turning tourism into a key economic sector of the province, the tourism industry is actively coordinating with all levels and sectors to implement a variety of solutions, focusing on organizing tourism events and tourism stimulus programs to attract visitors.
The program of the old Tet market space in Hoa Lu ancient town not only brings a vivid image of the Tet markets but also is an opportunity for the young generation to learn and appreciate more the beauty that makes up the national identity.
"We expect this to be a new tourist attraction for visitors in early spring. At the same time, it will be a bridge for everyone to join hands to preserve and promote the cultural values of their ancestors. In particular, through this event, Ninh Binh will promote and introduce the image of tourism to domestic and international visitors" - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism Bui Van Manh, shared.
Ms. Duong Thi Thanh - President of Ninh Binh Province Tourism Association shared that for a long time in the cultural life of Vietnamese people, Lunar New Year is the biggest holiday among traditional festivals, the sacred moment of transition between the old year and the new year.
Over a long period of history, with many generations, many customs and practices have been lost, but there are still beautiful cultural features of the old Tet that are preserved until today. The atmosphere of Tet and the customs and practices of Tet are clearly shown in the program of the old Tet market space.
"One of the Vietnamese New Year customs is going to the Tet market to pray for love, fortune, and good luck in buying and selling. The old Tet market carries many traditional features of the Vietnamese people," Ms. Thanh shared.
Participating in the Old Tet Market Space Program in Hoa Lu Ancient Town, locals and tourists can immerse themselves in the typical space of the Tet market with traditional specialty stalls from all localities in Ninh Binh province.
