About two weeks before the April and May holidays, the travel demand of people and tourists increased sharply. The domestic air ticket market fell into a state of scarcity on many routes.
According to Lao Dong's survey, many routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat have recorded higher prices than usual, commonly from 2.5-4.5 million VND per direction.
Notably, many routes have increased to very high levels. Typically, the Hanoi - Nha Trang round-trip flight from April 29th to May 3rd has a price of 6.9 to 7.5 million VND/person, no longer a good time for customers to choose.
Hanoi - Da Nang air tickets at the same time are priced from 3.8-7.2 million VND/person, Hanoi - Phu Quoc from 6.8-7.8 million VND/person, only Vietjet Air tickets are available. Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City air tickets are priced from 5.0-6.7 million VND/person...

In the opposite direction, the air ticket price from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi round-trip this time is 5.0-6.3 million VND/person, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang price 4.2-6.1 million VND/person, Ho Chi Minh City - Hue price 4.3-5 million VND/person...
Notably, on many direct flights, economy class is already "out of stock", tourists are forced to connect flights or fly business class with very high average prices, if they want to fly at a good time.
Rising ticket prices have forced many people to reconsider their travel plans. Many families planning to travel far have been forced to switch to nearby destinations to save costs, in the context of tight spending.
Meanwhile, airlines are still making efforts to increase flights to meet demand. Vietnam Airlines Group is expected to supply nearly 1.12 million seats during peak season, an increase of 15.5% compared to the same period last year. Flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang increased by nearly 30% in number of seats; routes to Nha Trang, Phu Quoc increased by nearly 20%; flights to Hue, Quy Nhon increased by more than 5%.
Vietjet Air also increased by about 500 flights, equivalent to 16%, providing a total of 832,000 seats, an increase of 130,000 seats compared to the same period. Flights are focused on high-demand routes such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue, Quang Binh, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa and Phu Quoc.
Although the supply is supplemented, in the context of a sudden increase in demand during peak hours, ticket prices are still high. Airlines recommend that passengers actively book tickets early, choose flexible flight times and check in online within 24 hours before the flight to reduce waiting time at the airport, and at the same time ensure a suitable itinerary during peak hours.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam continues to monitor and carefully assess the impact of the Middle East situation on air transport activities to promptly propose solutions to support businesses and people.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it will study the coordination of take-off and landing slots (flight slots) during peak periods such as the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday, April 30 - May 1, and summer 2026. From there, ensuring compliance with market demand and creating favorable conditions for the operation of airlines in the context of Middle East war and fuel price fluctuations.
