On May 15, the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone (HCMC) said that 2 environmental sanitation workers promptly rescued 2 rare sea turtles caught in nets while on duty collecting garbage at sea.
Previously, while working in the coastal area on May 14, 2 workers discovered 2 sea turtles struggling because they were caught in floating nets and showed signs of exhaustion. Immediately, both approached, cut off the nets wrapped around the turtle's body and brought these individuals back to the sea safely. This action contributed to saving rare sea turtles, an animal species that is being strictly conservated.
According to the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone, the beautiful gesture of the 2 sanitation workers has contributed to spreading the spirit of love for nature and awareness of protecting the marine environment in the community. Thereby, not only contributing to protecting ocean life but also conveying a meaningful message about the responsibility of each person in joining hands to preserve a green, clean, and sustainable environment.
Con Dao has long been known as one of the areas with a diverse marine ecosystem, especially a breeding ground for many rare sea turtles. However, the situation of plastic waste and fishing nets left at sea still poses a great risk to marine life. In the past time, the locality has regularly promoted environmental protection activities, wildlife rescue and propaganda to raise community awareness about preserving marine ecosystems.
