According to the latest information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a strong cold air mass is moving down to our country, deeply affecting the weather in the Northern and North Central provinces.
As of September 22, cold air has affected the entire Northeast region, some places in the Northwest and North Central regions.
Notably, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the northeast wind has strengthened to level 6, signaling significant changes in weather conditions at sea.
It is expected that on September 23, the influence of cold air will continue to spread, covering the remaining areas of the Northwest and North Central regions, bringing with it clear changes in temperature and weather conditions.
In the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, the temperature drops to the lowest level of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius, especially in mountainous areas where the temperature can drop below 19 degrees Celsius. This will create a chilly feeling, especially at night and early morning.
In the capital Hanoi, temperatures are forecast to range from 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, cool weather after hot days.
The situation at sea is complicated, especially in the Gulf of Tonkin, where the northeast wind is expected to strengthen to level 6 and may gust to level 7-8, causing rough seas with waves from 2.0 to 3.5 meters high.
In addition, this cold air mass also brings the risk of heavy rain to many areas. Specifically, from the night of September 22 to September 23, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will receive significant rainfall, ranging from 30 to 70mm, even exceeding 130mm in some places.
Heavy rain continued and expanded in the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue from the night of September 22 to the night of September 23, with rainfall ranging from 40 to 80mm, with some places over 150mm.
Residents and visitors should be especially vigilant against the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds during thunderstorms. At the same time, the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes is also warned.
For tourists planning to travel to the North, pay attention to weather information and follow the recommendations from the authorities. Avoid going out during heavy rain and strong winds, and stay away from areas at risk of landslides and flash floods.
Remember to prepare warm clothes to cope with sudden drops in temperature. Visitors should be especially careful not to swim or participate in activities at sea when there is a warning of high waves.
