On September 16, in Hai Phong City, the Japan Tourism Organization (JNTO) organized the "Japan Incentive Tourism Promotion Conference 2026" with the participation of hundreds of businesses operating in the tourism sector.
The program was attended by leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of leaders of tourism promotion agencies in Vietnam, and tourism companies in the area.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Matsumoto Fumi, Chief Representative of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) in Vietnam, said: In the past time, JNTO has mainly organized tourism seminars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This is the first time the Company has organized a tourism seminar in Hai Phong City. Japan is not only an attractive destination for corporate reward and training tourism programs but also meets a variety of other tourism needs such as group tours, package tours and individual tourism. Throughout Japan, there are many unique tourism resources such as rich nature, four-season scenery, history, culture and cuisine.
In recent years, Hai Phong City has been one of the major economic centers of Northern Vietnam, and also an important hub for industry and logistics. Along with the development of economic activities and the increase in people's income, this is an extremely potential market, expected to continue to record strong growth in Japanese tourism demand in the coming time.

At the conference, delegates and tourism businesses introduced and promoted the latest trends of Japanese tourism in the Vietnamese market. With the desire to build products and exploit new tourism needs, travel agencies expect the conference to contribute to promoting the number of tourists from Hai Phong City to Japan in the form of commendation tourism and regular sightseeing tourism.
Currently, Japanese tourism has some new features such as cultural experiences, cuisine, teambuilding and suggested destinations that are easy to access from the Golden Road for Japanese tourist groups.
According to statistics, in 2025, Japan welcomed 678,500 visitors from Vietnam, reaching 109.2% compared to 2024. Vietnamese visitors accounted for 1.6% of the total number of international visitors to Japan. In which, Vietnam ranked 11th overall and 4th among Southeast Asian markets in terms of the number of visitors to Japan.
Japan is highly appreciated as a destination, where tourists can simultaneously enjoy four seasons, cuisine, culture and nature. Experiences such as wearing kimonos, picking fruit, bathing in hot springs are popular activities. Currently, there are 4 airlines flying directly between Vietnam and Japan with a frequency of 181 flights/week. Among them, Hanoi 95 flights/week; Ho Chi Minh City 70 flights and Da Nang 76 flights.
