The reason given by the Gangwon provincial government is to rearrange the management and issuance of visas for Vietnamese people entering and leaving the country at Yang Yang airport. The announcement of the suspension was made after more than 4 months since the trial date of welcoming Vietnamese visitors here with the visa-free policy.
The visa exemption policy for Vietnamese people entering Yang Yang airport (Gangwon province) will be applied by Korea from June 1 to May 31, 2023. The applicable condition is that tourists must buy round-trip air tickets on regular flights or charter flights.
Currently, Korea's FlyGangwon airline is the only unit operating a direct flight from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Gangwon. The fixed flight schedule from Hanoi to Yang Yang International Airport is fixed at 3 flights/week, from Ho Chi Minh City is 4 flights/week.
After the policy of temporarily suspending visa issuance, these direct flights will be suspended until further notice. Customers who have purchased air tickets but have not yet taken off are supported with 2 options: refund all ticket and ground tour costs in Korea that customers have paid for or change the departure date for free for the most recent flight if the flight changes with more seats.
Tourists who have been approved for a visa before can still enter and travel normally according to the schedule.
