Khanh Hoa - The whole province currently has 83 Russian-speaking tour guides out of a total of 1,538 international tour guide cards issued, accounting for about 5.4%.

On May 27, information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province said that the unit had responded to Lao Dong Newspaper regarding the shortage of Russian-speaking tour guides in the area.

Content signed by Ms. Thai Thi Le Hang, after Lao Dong Newspaper reflected the shortage of human resources to serve the Russian tourist market.

According to the assessment of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Russian tourist market is recovering strongly and continues to be one of the key international markets of Khanh Hoa tourism.

In 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 505,000 Russian visitors, an increase of nearly 4.8 times compared to 2024.

In the first 4 months of 2026 alone, the locality continued to welcome more than 386,000 Russian tourists, an increase of 4.8 times compared to the same period last year.

The rapid recovery of the Russian tourist market brings positive signals to the local tourism industry. However, the pressure on human resources, especially the team of Russian-speaking tour guides, is also increasing.

Currently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa has issued 2,451 tour guide cards; of which there are 1,538 international tour guide cards. Russian-speaking tour guides alone are 83 people, accounting for about 5.4% of the total number of international tour guide cards.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thai Thi Le Hang said that some travel businesses are currently facing difficulties in arranging enough tour guides to serve Russian tourist groups during the peak season.

At many times, businesses have to strengthen personnel coordination, share resources between units or arrange work schedules with higher intensity for the existing team.

The shortage of Russian-speaking tour guides partly affects the work of customer care, explanation and support for handling situations during service.

However, the quality of tourism services in Khanh Hoa is still maintained stably thanks to the proactiveness of businesses in coordinating human resources and internal training.

Russian tourists still positively assess the tourism environment, quality of accommodation and resorts as well as the friendliness of Khanh Hoa people. This shows that the attractiveness of Khanh Hoa destination to the Russian market continues to be maintained.

Explaining the reason for the shortage of Russian-speaking tour guides, the tourism industry believes that Russian is a special foreign language, and the number of students in recent years is not as large as English, Chinese or Korean.

In addition, during the COVID-19 epidemic and the prolonged disruption of the Russian tourist market.

When the market recovered strongly from the end of 2025 to now, human resources have not been supplemented in time to meet actual needs.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa, to solve the shortage of human resources, in the coming time, there needs to be synchronous coordination between management agencies, training institutions and tourism businesses.

The Department will continue to coordinate with training units and travel businesses to strengthen foreign language and professional guidance training.

At the same time, promote the connection of labor supply and demand and support workers to access a real professional environment.

Businesses need to pay more attention to preferential treatment, a stable working environment, and opportunities to improve professional skills and income to attract young people to stick with the Russian-speaking tour guide profession for a long time.
