There are only more than 2 months left until Lunar New Year 2025. Before the 9-day holiday, many people have started planning to return to their hometowns or travel after a year of hard work.
Thanh Thanh (29 years old, office worker in Hanoi) plans to return home for Tet, then enjoy the last days of the holiday on a trip to the Northwest.
She said: "I plan to go to Cao Bang or Ha Giang because the scenery here is very beautiful at this time. Tet is also the season when peach and apricot blossoms bloom and cover the villages in the Northwest."
In addition, Thanh Thanh said that 2024 is a rather gloomy economic year, most of her friends and relatives do not have much savings. Therefore, she chooses to travel domestically by road instead of flying or traveling abroad to save money and spend on Tet shopping.
For travel agencies, Tet At Ty 2025 tours have been widely sold since October. The 9-day holiday is expected to help tourists have many choices of destinations, including domestic and international tours.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - General Director of Vitamin Tours said that the price of Tet tours has increased slightly, only about 5-15% compared to normal days. Vietnamese customers tend to book long-term tours in advance, and more international tours than domestic tours.
"Because long-term, foreign tours require visa procedures and paperwork, customers tend to book early to arrange their schedules. Meanwhile, for domestic tours, especially short-term, overland tours, Vietnamese customers tend to rent their own vehicles or book close to the date with the habit of booking rooms/tours at the last minute," said Mr. Hieu.
However, some tourists are looking into domestic tours, especially to the northern mountainous provinces during Tet this year. A representative of this business explained: "During Tet in winter, the weather is quite cold, so tourists rarely choose to travel to the beach. Instead, many tourists are interested in mountainous provinces with beautiful scenery and blooming flowers.
In particular, early spring is also the festival season of many northern mountainous provinces such as Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Cao Bang... Many tourists choose to come here to save money and explore the culture, customs, and cuisine of the ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas during Tet.
Accordingly, popular products include tours Hanoi - Sa Pa (Lao Cai) - Ha Giang, Hanoi - Son La - Dien Bien, Hanoi - Ha Giang - Yen Bai... with tourist destinations such as Y Ty, Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Moc Chau (Son La), Mai Chau (Hoa Binh), Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), Ban Gioc waterfall (Cao Bang)...
The tours are designed with a schedule of 5 days 4 nights or shorter, with prices ranging from a few million VND to approximately 10 million VND. Compared to the price of tens of millions of VND if traveling by air or abroad, the price of this tour seems much lower.
Mr. Phung Xuan Khanh, CEO of Tien Phong Travel, shared: "Northern mountainous tours lasting 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights cost only from 1.4 million VND, suitable for many customers.
Besides, through border gates in Lao Cai, Quang Ninh... tourists can continue to travel for a day or short time with the China road tours that have been hot in the past year.
According to Mr. Khanh, to prepare for the holiday, many travel companies have booked services at hotels and restaurants, arranged tour guides, and arranged transportation to welcome guests. At the same time, businesses have also launched many price incentives and accompanying gifts for guests who book early during this year's Tet holiday.
In addition, foreign tours in Asia such as Korea, China, Japan... or tours to Europe and the US during the Lunar New Year 2025 are also of interest to many people. Travel businesses are also stepping up promotion and launching many preferential policies to stimulate tourism during this year's Lunar New Year.
