According to information from the People's Committee of Son La province, the ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town and the arrangement and establishment of commune-level administrative units in Moc Chau town is expected to take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 18, 2025 at 8.5 Square in Moc Chau town. After the announcement ceremony, there will be a fireworks display to celebrate.
On the sidelines of the announcement ceremony, the 2025 Vietnam Trail Marathon will take place in Moc Chau district; booths will display and introduce OCOP agricultural products of Son La province; booths will introduce culture and tourism.
When they heard the news that Moc Chau would become a town, local people were excited and delighted.
Mr. Luong Van Son (37 years old, Moc Chau town) said: "I feel very proud because the land where I live has become a town, thereby promoting local socio-economic development, especially the tourism industry with job opportunities, promoting business and trade for the people".
Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Tay Bac Media and Tourism Company assessed that Moc Chau is already a famous and attractive destination on the Vietnam tourism map. According to a survey, from the beginning of the year until now, the number of visitors to this locality has been stable and increased during holidays and Tet.
According to Mr. Tung, Moc Chau becoming a town will create a highlight to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Thereby, it will create more economic income for those doing service business.
"Tourism businesses have high expectations for development in the coming time, hoping that Moc Chau will attract many investment sources, creating conditions for revenue explosion in tourism activities," said Mr. Tung.
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Le Trong Binh - Chairman of Moc Chau District People's Committee said that the locality is currently urgently preparing for the town recognition ceremony.
According to Mr. Binh, this is a recognition of the tireless efforts of local Party committees, authorities and people. Thereby, it will promote all aspects of life, socio-economic development, especially tourism development.
"With the potential advantages of natural landscapes, a culture imbued with ethnic identity and unique agricultural products, tourism activities and services promise to have many conditions for development in the coming time," Mr. Binh added.
On November 14, 2024, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in Son La province for the 2023-2025 period.
Accordingly, Moc Chau town was established on the basis of the entire natural area of 1,072.09 km2 and population of 148,259 people of Moc Chau district. Regarding the administrative units, Moc Chau town has 15 commune-level administrative units, including 8 wards and 7 communes.
