According to the Department of Tourism, during the traditional Tet holiday this year, there were 343,107 domestic tourists and 27,699 international tourists coming to Lao Cai.
Total revenue from tourism reached VND 1,342 billion, up 49% over the same period in 2024 (VND 900 billion).
The number of tourists to localities includes: Sa Pa town welcomed about 141,000 arrivals; Lao Cai city welcomed about 95,000 arrivals; Bac Ha district welcomed about 80,000 arrivals; Bao Yen district welcomed about 96,600 arrivals; Bat Xat district welcomed about 21,000 arrivals; other localities welcomed about 22,000 arrivals.
The occupancy rate of hotel rooms in Lao Cai province is about 70 - 75% (in particular, Sa Pa National Tourist Area is about 90 - 95%). The occupancy rate of high-end hotels and resorts with 3 - 5 star standards on the 2nd to 4th days of Tet is over 95%.
For unclassified accommodation establishments (including hotels, motels, homestays), the estimated capacity is about 70 - 75%.
