Hai Phong City People's Committee has just issued the Plan to organize the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival in 2026, a large-scale cultural and spiritual event, rich in historical significance and heritage value. The festival is organized to commemorate the 692nd anniversary of the death of the Third Patriarch Truc Lam Huyen Quang Ton Gia (1334-2026), and at the same time officially open the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival in 2026.
According to the plan, the festival not only carries the meaning of gratitude to ancestors, preserving the Truc Lam Buddhist tradition, but also is an opportunity to propagate and promote the outstanding global values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac World Heritage Sites, in which the focus is on 5 component relic sites of the heritage in Hai Phong.
Through a series of rich activities, the festival contributes to raising the awareness and responsibility of officials and people in practicing, preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage.
At the same time, introducing and promoting tourism resources, promoting trade promotion, developing tourism services of the heritage area, the city and the region, towards the goal of building the Con Son - Kiep Bac heritage area into an international-level tourist area. The festival also meets the legitimate religious and spiritual needs of the people and tourists.
At the Con Son Relic Site, the festival takes place continuously from February 26 to March 11, 2026 (ie from January 10 to 23 of the lunar calendar) with many key activities. On February 26, incense offering ceremony and spring opening ceremony will be held.
On February 28, the Week of Culture, Tourism and Trade Promotion of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival 2026 opened, lasting 12 days, with spaces to promote craft village products, OCOP, cuisine, Truc Lam cultural space, heritage experience activities, culture - art. At the same time, the Heritage Book Festival and the thematic exhibition "Heritage Moments" took place.
Folk activities and traditional rituals continue such as the banh chung wrapping contest, banh giay pounding; procession and banh offering ceremony at Con Son Pagoda, Nguyen Trai Temple, Tran Nguyen Dan Temple; water procession ceremony; chess tournament; national wrestling tournament; earth firecracker festival; cross-country and semi-marathon "Con Son, Kiep Bac - Journey of World Heritage".
