The 9-day Lunar New Year holiday starts from January 25, 2025 (December 26, year of the Dragon) to February 2, 2025 (January 5, year of the Snake).
Regarding the holidays of Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1 in 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs has agreed on a plan for cadres, civil servants and public employees to have 5 days off, from April 30, 2025 to May 4, 2025. According to this plan, the whole country will swap the working day from Friday, May 2, 2025 to Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Regarding the proposal for a 2.9 National Day holiday, the Ministry of Home Affairs agreed on a 4-day holiday plan, from August 30, 2025 to September 2, 2025.
The Ministry also agreed on the draft document sent to the Prime Minister, the draft Notice on Lunar New Year holidays, National Day holidays, Victory Day holidays on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1, 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers developed by the Ministry of Labor, War invalids and Social Affairs.
With the Lunar New Year holiday being longer than usual, people across the country can arrange their schedules to return to their hometowns or take short/long trips domestically and internationally. This promises to be an opportunity to promote the development of Vietnam's tourism industry in early 2025.
Previously, on the occasion of Tet Giap Thin 2024 (from February 8 to February 14, 2024), the tourism industry nationwide is expected to welcome and serve 10.5 million domestic visitors (an increase of 16.6% over the same period in 2023).
Of which, there are about 3.5 million overnight guests (an increase of 75% over the same period in 2023), the average room occupancy rate is estimated at about 45 - 50% at the tourist accommodation system (in which high-end tourist accommodation facilities from 4 - 5 stars in some key tourist localities have higher occupancy rates, concentrated on the 3rd and 4th days of Tet).
Besides, the holidays of April 30-May 1 and September 2 have longer breaks, which also creates leverage for the tourism industry to recover and develop after the pandemic.
