On November 18, according to information from the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC) of Can Tho City, the Department has just coordinated with the People's Committee of Cai Rang District to sign and issue a Plan to organize the 8th Can Tho City "Cai Rang Floating Market Culture" Tourism Festival in 2024.
The event takes place over 3 days, including November 30 and December 1-2 at Cai Rang Floating Market Stop, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City. This is a highlight tourism activity in 2024 of the city in general and Cai Rang District in particular.
The festival gathered over 105 booths, with the participation of businesses inside and outside the city; cultural and artistic activities. Activities focused on preserving the values of "Cai Rang Floating Market Culture"; activities to care for merchants; commercial, service and culinary activities.
In which, there are coordinated activities between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and the People's Committee of Cai Rang District including: opening ceremony at 7:00 a.m. on November 30, closing ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on December 2, and amateur music performance at Cai Rang Floating Market (from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. every day).
Activities chaired by the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with relevant agencies and units, include: a boat parade on the river from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on November 30; and a river trash collection activity from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on December 1.
Activities chaired and implemented by the District People's Committee include: mobilizing 100% of merchants to participate in decorating boats at Cai Rang Floating Market from November 25 to December 5; a contest to decorate and display models of boats - ships - poles, buy and sell agricultural products, and is expected to mobilize more than 50 units to participate in recreating the Cai Rang Floating Market of the past and present; the second "Beauty of Ao Ba Ba in the past and present" contest in 2024...
In particular, within the framework of the festival, there will also be an introduction to the Tong Phong (Tong On) ceremony at the Xom Chai Temple from 8am to 11am on December 1, performing rituals to pray for peace, worship the Lady, worship the Earth God and the deceased, releasing rafts on the big river... The "going to welcome" ceremony aims to send off and drive away all evil things, difficulties, diseases,...; wishing for national peace and prosperity, business prosperity and wealth.
