“Taking stock” of assets, Quang Ngai has enough tourism potential from sea, islands, forests, mountains, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, cuisine... However, compared to neighboring provinces such as Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, Da Nang... for decades, Quang Ngai has always been “at the bottom” in the region in terms of number of visitors, revenue and international visitors.
Statistics from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism show that each tourist to Khanh Hoa spends 5.3 million VND (among the top in the country); this figure is 4.52 million VND/visitor in Ho Chi Minh City, and in Quang Ngai it is only 965,000 VND/visitor.
That number partly reflects that Quang Ngai has very few unique tourist facilities and services for tourists to spend money on. Tourists coming to Quang Ngai City find it boring at night. There are almost no activities in the evening, and after eating, tourists do not know where to go for entertainment…
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, there are currently about 390 accommodation establishments in the province, including 4 4-star hotels and equivalent, 8 3-star hotels. The accommodation system in the province is mostly small-scale, with star-rated hotels accounting for a very low percentage.
Quang Ngai currently has 17 travel businesses with over 180 tour guides. The province’s tourism products are still not innovative and lack uniqueness; community tourism in the localities is still lacking in uniformity.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting investors to survey and invest in tourism projects in the province is not much; some investors have proposed investment projects but had to suspend because they could not access land.
Some projects are being implemented slowly and at a standstill due to limited financial capacity and incompatibility with planning, leading to limited and undiversified accommodation infrastructure in the province, failing to meet the needs of organizing large-scale and national events and activities. In addition, the province has not yet had preferential policies and mechanisms to attract investment in this field.
Attracting investors and developing tourism projects is still limited, many projects are slow to progress and ineffective. In the past 10 years, Quang Ngai has had 23 tourism development investment projects, with a land use area of over 473 hectares and a total investment capital of over VND5,667 billion. However, less than 10 of these projects have come into operation.
Currently, Quang Ngai is focusing its resources on investing in developing traffic infrastructure, creating momentum for tourism development with projects such as Hoang Sa - Doc Soi Road, Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road...
