The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Transport of Thai Nguyen province and Vietnam Railways Corporation have agreed to promote tea culture and introduce tourist destinations on the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway route.
It is expected that on January 1, 2025, a pair of trains will run to serve social security on the Gia Lam - Quan Trieu route. The goal is to improve service quality, attract passengers to travel by rail, and promote tourism in the tea land.
Tea culture spaces will be deployed at the waiting rooms of Hanoi, Pho Yen, Luu Xa, Quan Trieu stations, displaying OCOP products. Landscape planning along the railway line through Thai Nguyen province.
According to Lao Dong on November 25, at Luu Xa station, workers are maintaining the passenger railway. Some new sleepers are installed. At Luong Son line, some rails are being repaired and replaced.
Worker Do Thi Mai (Ha Thai Railway Joint Stock Company) said that inspection and maintenance are carried out daily. However, before the passenger train is put into operation, the workload will be greater.
"On average, 3 to 4 workers work 8 hours a day, covering a 500 meter long railway area. Passenger trains need to ensure maximum safety. Some of the sleepers and rail shafts are degraded and must be replaced.
For many years, the railway through Thai Nguyen province has only carried goods, mainly coal, so its full value has not been fully exploited," said Ms. Mai.
According to Mr. Ngo Quang Tien - Head of Luu Xa Station (Thai Nguyen City), there are currently 10 employees at the station. Since 2021, passenger transportation has been temporarily suspended, mainly transporting goods.
"The fact that we will run two trains to serve tourists and promote tourism is very promising. This will help the railway industry in Thai Nguyen to be less gloomy.
It is important that the locality coordinates with the railway industry to renovate the station's appearance. Combined with truly unique tourism products, incorporating symbols of Thai Nguyen tourism," said Mr. Tien.
On November 25, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Tung Lam - Head of Tourism Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen) said that the unit has a plan to cooperate with the Department of Transport and Vietnam Railways Corporation to implement the above content.
"There will be two types of trains, passenger trains are expected to run regularly every day, while tourist trains will operate on the three weekends. At the stations, there will be displays of typical products and OCOP to promote local tourism. Hopefully, this model will promote the railway transport industry and stimulate local tourism," Mr. Lam added.
