A fish cake shop owner in Sillim-dong ward, Seoul (South Korea) has attracted attention on social networks thanks to his handsome appearance that is no different from a celebrity.
The owner is Kim Jong-oh, a former freelance model. He receives many compliments for his simple dressing style, but still exudes confidence.
Videos of Mr. Kim selling mackerel cakes have been viewed millions of times. Many customers have come to support his small fish cake cart set up on the side of the road.
However, too many customers gathered at one street corner, affecting order. Kim Jong-oh was warned by local authorities.
On her personal page, the fish cake shop owner shared: "I am very grateful that my videos have received so much attention. There were so many people coming that the government contacted me. I will no longer be able to operate at my current location. If anyone is renting out space in Sillim-dong, I will pay the monthly rent and continue operating. Please contact me."
In an interview with Korean media, Mr. Kim said he started the fish cake business because there are not many places left that sell this traditional snack at a cheap price.
This is also part of the reason why Kim's small cart is so popular. Kim Jong-oh sells three fish cakes for only 1,000 won (about 18,000 VND), very cheap compared to the usual price in Seoul.
The recent increase in the price of raw materials for making fish cakes has been a factor causing difficulties for business owners. Raw materials for making fish cakes such as red beans, flour, cooking oil... have all increased significantly in price compared to last year, so many fish cake shops have also had to raise their selling prices.
