The incident occurred in Shanghai, China. After the divorce, Luo Moumou was sued by his ex-wife for unpaid debts. Before the trial, Luo planned to propose to his ex-wife again and threatened that if she refused, he would kill her.
During the trial, Luo proposed to his ex-wife but was rejected. Leaving the courthouse, Luo chased his ex-wife and her lawyer in a taxi to the train station, where he stabbed her with a prepared pocket knife.
Luo was arrested at the scene after confessing to the police. Luo's ex-wife was taken to the hospital but died at 1:40 p.m. the same day, at the age of 32. The cause of death was severe blood loss after being stabbed.
On September 25, the Third Branch of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate announced the results of the prosecution. According to a report by Pengpai News, the case is known as the "Huai'an East Railway Station Intentional Murder Case".
The court of first instance sentenced Luo to death for intentional homicide. After Luo appealed, the appellate court rejected the appeal and upheld the sentence. The Supreme People's Court approved the death sentence in April 2024.
After the incident, the investigating agencies conducted psychological identification of Luo, collected evidence and clarified the motive of the crime, the route and time of the incident.
The prosecutor found that Luo had repeatedly committed domestic violence, often beating and threatening his ex-wife. Luo's murder in a public place, in a crowded train station, demonstrated a level of cruelty and had a serious impact on social safety.
