Recently, on her personal page, former track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen posted a close, happy moment with her two children. She humorously shared: "I thought I was only 18+. I woke up with a start and realized I was dreaming."
In October 2023, Nguyen Thi Huyen decided to retire after 15 years of being involved in top sports and having a huge collection of titles. Leaving the track, Vietnam's "Queen of Athletics" returned to work at the Sports Training and Competition Center of Nam Dinh province (hometown) as a coach.
While trying out her new role, Nguyen Thi Huyen received joy when she became pregnant with her second child. Nguyen Thi Huyen successfully gave birth to a new member of the family not long ago.
She humorously shared: "When I had my second child, I felt very happy and joyful. Now I can run slowly, but I have to run fast to change my child's diaper. I also had many memorable experiences while still diligently playing on the field during my pregnancy.
Most of the athletes selected at the center were discovered through school sports so they are still very young. Many of them still need teachers to support, care for and guide them in their daily activities.
In terms of expertise, most of the students have not yet mastered the techniques and follow their instincts. During the instruction process, I often demonstrate to help them understand. There are days after the demonstration, I remember that I am pregnant."
Vietnam's "Queen of Athletics" said that becoming a coach and taking care of young athletes from daily activities to professional activities also helps her gain more experience and affection for them and her children.
In addition, the former Vietnamese athlete also received great support from her family, especially her husband. She expressed: "In the past, during training and competition, my husband and children were always by my side. My husband is also a sportsman, so he understands and supports all my decisions. Thanks to the support of my family, I am ready for the job of a coach.
When I was pregnant, my husband was always there to care for me, take care of me, and encourage me. My first child often followed his mother to the stadium after school, to practice, and play with his older siblings. That is my greatest happiness right now."
Nguyen Thi Huyen said that she still hasn't gotten back in shape as she wanted after giving birth, but she always feels happy, loves life, enjoys the present time and is well prepared, ready to return to work.
