The journey to Vietnam of Ms. Pham Thi Kieu Tien's mother-in-law (born in 1990, Kien Giang) has received great attention from the online community. She is 68 years old but is still agile and flexible in participating in daily life activities.
Kieu Tien's mother-in-law, Ms. Joo Sun Seon, comes from Goseong County, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. As soon as she returned to the West - her daughter-in-law's hometown, she did not hesitate to wear colorful linen pajamas and a typical conical hat like other women here.
Although she had never farmed before, she was very enthusiastic about wading through the fields to harvest rice, climbing trees to pick coconuts, chopping down water coconuts, chopping down banana bunches, picking water lilies... She even proactively asked to do it herself.
When the family organizes a meal, she volunteers to make banh xeo and prepare food together... Kieu Tien's mother-in-law often wakes up quite early to do morning exercises, then helps sweep the yard, pick fruit... She likes to enjoy local specialties such as banh xeo, banh khot, coconut tubers, com ong, and eat grilled food on rocks...
The Korean mother-in-law did not forget to record memorable moments at her in-laws' house and share them with her friends.
Kieu Tien expressed her feelings for her mother-in-law: “My mother said that living in the countryside is great. In the morning, I can go to the market, drink coffee, and eat pho noodles. At noon, I sit under a coconut tree, eat Ca Mau crab, smell the ripe rice, take a nap, and in the afternoon, I walk around the neighborhood to enjoy the breeze and then come back to eat fruit. It's like being a quiet beauty.”
However, this is not the first time she has returned to her daughter-in-law's hometown. In early 2024, her trip to the West with her daughter-in-law also attracted attention. She climbed trees and picked coconuts to enjoy the typical fruits. Immediately after picking them from the trees, she cleaned the fruits and squatted down to try them in the garden. While in Korea, Kieu Tien's mother-in-law was often treated to delicious Vietnamese dishes cooked by her daughter-in-law and in-laws.
