Actress Seol In Ah, best known for her supporting role as Jin Young Seo in the Korean drama “ Office Dating ,” recently joined tvN’s new sports variety show “Iron Girls.”
In the first episode, Seol In Ah revealed that although fans have always believed her to be healthy, especially based on her active lifestyle documented on the show “I Live Alone,” she has actually struggled with insomnia and skin-related side effects from taking sleeping pills.
When explaining the reason for joining the program, the beauty born in 1996 said that she wanted to focus on becoming healthier. Seol In Ah has been dependent on sleeping pills for about 5 years, so that she can rest at night.
When she realized that sleeping pills were affecting her performance on set, the actress tried to quit last year. However, without sleeping pills, Seol In Ah would sometimes have insomnia for 3-4 days in a row.
“I was very sad because I had to take sleeping pills all the time. And I thought maybe I wasn’t tired enough, so I forced myself to be busy. I purposely made my body move a lot. That also made people believe that I was very diligent and liked to pursue an active lifestyle.
But no, it was all because I was sleep deprived. I moved more so I could sleep more. I find it ironic that people label me as a "healthy, active girl", when I never thought I was that healthy in the first place. My goal when I joined this show was to actually become healthier," the actress shared.
According to Seol In Ah, her immune system was devastated by her excessive use of sleeping pills. At one point, she was prescribed 24 pills a day, to help alleviate the skin-related side effects caused by her weakened immune system.
Seol In Ah's co-star in "Office Dating" - Kim Se Jeong (playing the female lead) and rock star Yoon Do Hyun showed their support for the actress's decision to join the show "Iron Girls".
Seol In Ah's fame skyrocketed since "Business Proposal" - a hit Korean drama in 2022. Although she only played a supporting role, the discussion about the actress was also very large.
Last year, Seol In Ah returned with the lead role in two dramas, “Oasis” (KBS2) and “Twinkling Watermelon” (twinkling watermelon) ( twinkling watermelon ) of tvN. Of which, the drama “Twinkling Watermelon” won the hearts of young audiences.
