The relationship had increasingly deep cracks caused by Dat's control and manipulation. Lan's every action, thought and emotion were constantly controlled in the name of protection.
Phone messages were often checked and GPS was secretly installed, threatening to release sensitive images and recordings. Love gradually eroded, replaced by fear, insecurity and a lot of psychological pressure. After getting married, Dat changed a lot, became more irritable, and had hurtful words and actions towards Lan in front of friends and relatives.
Phuong Lan affirmed that if she had chosen a career, she would not have chosen to make her love public.

"Lan wants to apologize to the audience. Because of living in a state of mental fear and constant threats, Lan has chosen to always say positive things about her marriage and family. Because of her words and choices that created that image, Lan now musters up the courage to lift this curtain," the actress confided.
Previously, Phan Dat implicitly accused Phuong Lan's colleagues Nam Thu and Minh Du of oppressing their juniors and having a deviant lifestyle.
