At the program "You want to date", the audience witnessed a gentle but emotional meeting between Mr. Dai Thang (40 years old, freelancer in Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City) and Ms. Nguyen Xuan Thuong (40 years old, English teacher in Dong Thap). Not noisy, not dramatic, their story attracts attention because of their maturity, frankness and sense of responsibility towards their family - something that is not easy to find in single people in their forties.
Mr. Dai Thang, born in 1985, is currently a freelancer, working at a restaurant with friends and participating in real estate trading. He lives with his 80-year-old mother in Vung Tau, and their siblings are all married. Having gone through a 10-year marriage and a 6-year divorce, he frankly shared that he had difficulty having children and needed medical intervention if he wanted to have children in the future.
His strengths, according to self-assessment, are living with goals, knowing how to control emotions, listen and correct mistakes; his weaknesses are being quite shy and not good at keeping money.
On the bride's side, Ms. Nguyen Xuan Thuong is an English teacher, who taught at the center before opening a class at home. She lives with her 69-year-old mother in Dong Thap. When her father passed away after 8 years of serious illness, she spent a lot of time taking care of, making up for and accompanying her mother. For her, family is the top priority. She said that her strengths are enthusiasm, love for her job, love for her students, and perseverance in the face of difficulties; her disadvantages are exemplary and easy to be gentle.
Ms. Thuong has had two relationships. His first love as a student ended because they were no longer compatible. After getting used to it at work, the relationship broke up due to lack of respect from the other person. Those experiences make her set very clear criteria for her partner: sincere, straightforward, listen-listening and absolutely loyal.
The point that attracted the audience's attention was the story of "where is after marriage". Ms. Thuong expressed her desire to continue living with her mother for convenience, while Mr. Dai Thang is also living with his elderly mother. However, both of them showed flexibility and goodwill. Mr. Thang believes that if the love is big enough, the two can completely arrange for the two of them to live close together or often visit each other, becoming friends and partners in old age.
When asked about her children, Ms. Thuong frankly shared that at the age of 40, she does not focus on the necessity of having children, more importantly, finding a partner to accompany, love and share. Mr. Thang also said that he is willing to find medical solutions or adopt children if he does not have the fate to give birth naturally.
During the face-to-face meeting, the two gave each other meaningful small gifts. Ms. Thuong gave Mr. Thang a bowl of stone lotus with good luck and perseverance, while Mr. Thang prepared a personal care gift for the bride's family. Ms. Thuong caused sympathy when singing the rustic voice of the song "Song Que", as a way to express her respect for the meeting.
The support from the family, especially Ms. Thuong's mother, added to the couple's confidence. She hopes her daughter will find a gentle man who is not patriarchal, and can discuss everything in life together.
At the end of the program, both Dai Thang and Xuan Thuong pressed the date button, officially giving each other a chance to get to know each other.
