Ms. H said that the first emotional upheaval came from the time she was a female student preparing for the baccalaureate exam before 1975. At that time, she was enthusiastically pursued by a good student who passed the University of Science and Technology. However, this person's extreme actions gradually frightened her.
“Whenever he saw me anywhere, he would stand up and sing loudly. Once he even used scissors to slash his hand until it bled and then cut his hair and put it in his diary to prove his love,” she recalled.
Because she was young and inexperienced, she was softened by pity rather than true love. However, all emotions broke down when she witnessed her lover carrying another girl behind the car. Later, she learned that the woman worked in a disguised coffee shop.
I thank her because thanks to that, I see his true face," she said bitterly.
After the initial shock, she lost faith in men and more than 10 years later decided to marry a construction engineer whom she described as gentle, intellectual and taciturn.
Thinking she had found peace, storms continued to hit when she discovered that she was infertile and often had to go to Hanoi for treatment. During that time, her husband again had acts of seducing his cousin who was staying with him to go to school.
The tragedy did not stop when her husband continuously had affairs with many women at construction sites where he worked. Knowing everything, Ms. H still chose to remain silent and endure because she loved her husband too much.
I don't have the guts to be violent. I just thought, let it be, as long as the family is still safe," she choked up.
The peak of pain was when she proactively brought a divorced cousin to give birth to a child for her husband because she thought it was a way to maintain family happiness.
I was in the same room, only a bookshelf away from them," she recounted in tears.
Despite sacrificing and enduring for many years, the marriage finally broke down when her husband continued to publicly have an affair with another woman at a construction site in Rach Gia. After 26 years of living together, she decided to divorce and live alone until now.
Listening to the story, director Le Hoang said that women should not be convinced by impulsive actions or sweet words of men.
When choosing a man, don't listen to what they say to you, but look at how they treat those around them," the male director shared.
Closing the program, Ms. H made many people feel sorry when she still chose to be light instead of complaining after all the hurt she had experienced.
