On September 9, Korean actor Jo In Sung appeared on Shin Dong Yeop's YouTube talk show.
On the show, Jo In Sung shared his thoughts on marriage and the expectations his parents place on their children regarding marriage.
The " Moving " star confided: "My mother said that even if I don't get married, I should still have a child, because then the child will be like a friend to me.
But I said to her, ‘I don’t feel like we’re friends, so why would a child make a difference?’ Plus, having a baby all of a sudden would be a scandal and would be on the news. It’s not realistic.”
Jo In Sung reflected on his parents' views. He admitted that while he was living well and being loved by the public, his parents must have been very happy.
"I can never fully understand how happy my mother is for me," he confessed.
The actor continued to share: “People say that getting married and raising children is part of normal life. But that normality seems so difficult that I think those who can do it are saints.
Sometimes, when I am in trouble, I will seek advice from my elders. But in reality, our parents are the most trustworthy teachers.
When I was little, there were times when I thought: If only my parents loved me more, cared for me a little more, then maybe my life would be different. But now I realize that the fact that I have no problems and am here is a huge achievement for them."
Regarding marriage, the 43-year-old actor revealed: "I am satisfied with being single. Whether I am dating or not, I am still satisfied with my current life. I do not put too much emphasis on getting married.
I joke with my friends that maybe I'll be the first one to move into a nursing home. It might be a good choice."
When Shin Dong Yeop asked Jo In Sung if he was dating, he honestly replied that he had dated before, but dating came and went.
The actor born in 1981 expressed his worries about his ability to have a girlfriend in the future: “There are times when I feel a little less confident as a man.
I have the ability to meet younger people. But can I compete? I'm getting older, and if I'm not popular anymore, will young people like me anymore?"
During nearly 30 years of artistic activities, Jo In Sung has only publicly announced his relationship with one female star, actress Kim Min Hee, in April 2013.
But at that time, the relationship between the two was not supported by the public. The audience thought that Jo In Sung, with his appearance, career and clean private life, was completely unsuitable for Kim Min Hee - a female star who had many scandals about her love life. After 18 months, the couple announced that they had gone their separate ways.
After this relationship, the actor continued to be rumored to be dating some co-stars such as Gong Hyo Jin (in the movie "It's Okay to Be Love"), Go Hyun Jung (in the movie "Spring Day") or Song Hye Kyo (in the movie "That Winter, the Wind Blows"). But he remained silent about all the information.
