In modern life, many people share that they have experienced loneliness right in the place that should have been their support. This story is not unique to anyone, it is the sighing of family relationships being eroded by silence, misunderstanding and overly high expectations.
When expectations become too tight
Family psychologist Dr. tempor tempor tempor temporary, University of Melbourne, analyzed: Loness in the family comes when each person is no longer considered as themselves, but is placed in a framework of excessive expectations. The feeling of not being understood makes people take it back.
In fact, love sometimes requires: to live according to parents' wishes, to be strong, to be talented, to sacrifice. Those things easily turn into pressure, making even adults exhausted. When each person only talks about what they want without listening to what others need, the gap in affection silently widenes.
Prolonged silence, the enemy of cohesion
Many families live together but do not " live together". Each person has a device, a world, a concern. Long-term silence becomes a habit and that habit nurtures loneliness. Communication is not about talking too much, but about making others feel safe to dare to speak, says Dr. Parker. A family lacks emotional security, often causing each person to build an invisible wall: afraid of being judged, afraid of being scolded, afraid of causing trouble. And so, people choose to stay silent.
Loneliness in the family is not a sign of lost feelings, but a reminder to adjust the way of loving. Sometimes just a gentle question, a quick meal, an un judgemental conversation, that gap will be filled.
A family is not perfect, but it can be warm if each person slows down for a moment to look at each other with empathy. And then, loneliness will no longer have a place to stick with those who truly want to hold hands.
