On her personal page, Cheesesse Nook - wife of player Pansa Hemviboon - posted a photo of her husband looking sad after the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final in Thailand.
She wrote: "No one wants to make mistakes. The players are equally sad. Yong (Hemviboon's nickname - PV) has worked very hard and is tired. Now, encouragement is the most important thing. Please do not criticize each other. Let's fight again," she wrote.
Nook also shared a post encouraging the Thai team: "Look into their eyes. Eyes full of disappointment and sadness. Not only with the result of the match, but also with hurt and disappointment. If it's wrong, then blame it. But it has to be within limits, have to point out the cause and give a solution. Yong tried his best, but that's football. There will be a few days when things don't go your way."
The Thai national team defender also shared the post and thanked his wife for her encouragement.
On January 5, after the second leg of the final, Hemviboon walked into the stands and hugged his wife after his team lost. Nook encouraged her husband when the player shed tears of disappointment.
After the match, Hemviboon was criticized by Thai fans, many even asked him to leave the national team because of his mistakes that led to the team's defeat.
Pansa Hemviboon (born in 1990) is a member of Buriram United FC. In the first leg of the ASEAN Cup final, Hemviboon was the captain.
Defender Pansa was the one who scored an own goal in Vietnam's 2-2 equalizer in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final. In this situation, Tuan Hai shot diagonally, causing the opposing defender to fumble and clear the ball into his own net.
Responding to the Thai press, Pansa apologized and asked fans to forgive him. But he has been criticized by fans for many days, and is considered one of the factors that caused Thailand to lose at home.
Besides Pansa, midfielder Weerathep was also heavily criticized for receiving two yellow cards, forcing him to leave the field in the second leg of the final.
