MC Ngoc Lan took out a picture of Cho Ray Hospital from the memory box. Mr. Nguyen Quang said that this is an unforgettable memory in his life.
He recounted that on a trip back to his hometown, his wife accidentally slipped and fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury. After treatment, Cho Ray Hospital sent her home with a message for her family to prepare mentally because she would die within a week. “At that time, my wife was like a rotten noodle,” the male guest lamented.
And then a "miracle" smiled on Nguyen Quang's family, when his wife overcame the critical stage, but because of the after-effects of the disease, she lost her memory.
During that journey, Mr. Nguyen Quang stayed by his wife's side day and night: "After several months of treatment at the Tropical Diseases Hospital, there was no progress, so we were transferred to Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital. The doctor told me to keep a close eye on my wife at midnight because patients with memory loss would wander around, which meant I didn't dare sleep at night."
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang, taking care of a person with dementia is more difficult and tiring than taking care of a child when everything has to be taught from scratch. After 2 years of treatment, Mr. Nguyen Quang's wife's condition gradually recovered, but another incident happened to her when she was diagnosed with cancer. The male guest confided: "At that time, I did not dare to be depressed because I had a small child, I had to be optimistic."
Before the moment his wife shed tears because she had to shave her head due to chemotherapy, Nguyen Quang decided to shave his head to share the pain and encourage his wife to overcome the deadly disease. Currently, Nguyen Quang "breathes a sigh of relief" because his wife's health has recovered about 80%.
During the program, Mr. Nguyen Quang surprised MC Ngoc Lan when he revealed that he had faced a “near-death” situation twice due to a stroke. The first time, the male guest suffered a stroke while taking care of his wife who had lost her memory because he could only sleep a few hours a day and often stayed up late, leading to a “health alert” situation.
“When I was sick, there was no one at home, so I had to go to the hospital alone. When the doctor saw me, he said how brave I was, but luckily I got to the hospital in time, otherwise I would have been paralyzed,” Nguyen Quang recounted. The second time, due to lack of sleep, a part of Nguyen Quang’s body was deformed on one side, but he also luckily survived. “This time, the doctor gave me an injection and told me to be careful because there was a risk of a relapse,” the male guest shared.
Despite experiencing many events in life, seeing that the male guest always brings an optimistic and positive spirit, MC Ngoc Lan admires: "He is inspiring many people because the way he looks at life is very beautiful, very happy. No matter what events happen to him actively or passively, he still accepts them with a smile."
