On the afternoon of January 13, Korean media reported that ADOR Company (under HYBE Group) filed a petition with the Seoul Central District Court, requesting a temporary restraining order against the members of the group NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein), including maintaining ADOR's management company status and NewJeans not being allowed to sign advertising contracts.
The order is intended to confirm that ADOR remains NewJeans' management company under its exclusive contract with the group, until the court makes its first ruling on the lawsuit "confirming the validity of the exclusive contract" (ADOR filed on December 3, 2024).
This is a measure by ADOR to prevent NewJeans members from arbitrarily signing advertising contracts and participating in advertising activities without the approval or consent of ADOR.
ADOR said it sought an injunction against NewJeans because members were attempting to contact advertisers or third parties to sign independent contracts, which could cause confusion and damage to third parties.
“This injunction application reflects ADOR’s desire to continue working with NewJeans members,” the company added.
If the turmoil in the market and industry continues due to the independent actions of the members, the brand value of NewJeans - the only artist of ADOR - will certainly decline.
And as a result, ADOR may lose its competitiveness as an entertainment company and face a management crisis.”
ADOR expressed that the company will continue to support all personnel and facilities for NewJeans' entertainment activities.
In addition, ADOR is receiving proposals for a number of promotional projects and events, and has planned NewJeans' activities this year, including album releases and fan meetings.
The company hopes to fully communicate with NewJeans members to convey its intentions.
Previously, all 5 members of NewJeans held a press conference announcing the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR from November 29, 2024, on the grounds that the company violated the terms of the contract but did not promptly correct them.
The group has made sure to complete the pre-scheduled activities that ADOR signed with its partners. According to the media, NewJeans' last activity under ADOR's management was to attend the Golden Disc Awards in Fukuoka (Japan) on January 5, 2025.
Currently, the 5 members have created new Instagram accounts to communicate with fans.
