Blackpink Celebrates 8 Years Since Debut with Notable Activities. From live streaming interactions with fans, organizing a signing event for 88 lucky fans…
In the evening of August 9, Blackpink officially made their public appearance at the event introducing the film “Blackpink World Tour (Born Pink) in Cinemas”, held at Yeongdeungpo Times Square, Seoul.
This is the first time that the 4 members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa of Blackpink have appeared at a public event as a complete group since their final performance at the world tour concert in Seoul last September.
As soon as Blackpink appeared, cheers echoed continuously. The members continuously waved their hands in greeting, smiled brightly, and stopped to sign autographs and take photos with fans before going on stage.
The appearance of the 4 female idols also became a hot topic. The group wore black outfits in the same color, but each member brought a different style.
In the subsequent interview, Blackpink expressed their feelings on the occasion of their 8-year anniversary and showed their expectations for the documentary film about the group's debut.
Elder sister Jisoo shared: “The 8-year anniversary is even more special because we debuted at 8 am on August 8. Our affection for the fans who have supported us so far has increased 800 times over.”
Rosé said: “When I heard that a fan in elementary school had turned 20, I realized that time has passed very quickly. I have watched the film before and it ended very well. I hope you will enjoy it when you watch it."
Lisa added: “This is the first time we have been to the cinema and I hope the emotions we felt at that time will be conveyed accurately as it is now.”
Jennie reminisced: “In a positive way, it's like we just met yesterday. It feels like we're looking back at ourselves on the first day we met 10 years ago.”
Then, the female idol joked: "The 88th anniversary will also come", making everyone laugh.
After interacting with the audience, Blackpink performed their hit songs “As If It’s Your Last” and “How You Like That” together.
“Born Pink in Cinema” is a film documenting Blackpink's global tour, which passed through 34 cities around the world from 2022 to 2023, and attracted 1.8 million viewers. The film was released in South Korea on July 31 and will be screened in over 110 other countries.
Blackpink debuted on August 8, 2016, and immediately became famous with a series of explosive music products. In 2022, Blackpink released their second long album “Born Pink", becoming the first K-pop girl group in history to top the US Billboard 200 album chart.
Last year, Blackpink extended their group contract with YG Entertainment, while individual contracts were not renewed. Each member separated from YG to start their solo journey.
According to the plan announced by YG, Blackpink will continue to operate as a group with a new song and organize a world tour next year.
