According to Billboard, the film "War of the Worlds" (2025) did not start very well.
On the film review site Rotten Tomatoes, 16 critics gave the film 0 points. Thousands of audiences gave the film 15 points.

A review from Variety critic Peter Debruge criticized the show as an promotional product for Amazon. "Even if you are Prime registered, you still have to sit and watch 2 minutes of the ad and then watch 90 more long commercials like a Netflix drama about everything," he wrote.
The Telegraph critic Ed Power said that the film was "silly, poor quality, and had too many scenes of the male lead Ice Cube staring at the computer screen".
"War of the Worlds" is adapted from the classic novel "The War of the Worlds" by HG Wells in 1898. The 2025 version of the film is produced by Amazon Prime, directed by Rich Lee and starring Eva Longoria.
Rapper Ice Cube plays Will Radford, a security guard at the Department of Homeland Security, and much of the drama takes place on a computer screen as he has to deal with a criminal and an attack by aliens.
Will often sat alone in front of a computer, wrinkling at the camera while monitoring multiple systems set up to monitor US citizens.
But mostly, he only follows his two children, scolding his pregnant daughter, Faith (Iman Benson), for not eating in moderation and scolding his computer-idescribed son Dave (Henry Hunter Hall) for wasting time playing video games.
Although it was expected to successfully recreate H.G's classic story. Wells, the 2025 version of "War of the Worlds" received many criticisms and was not highly appreciated on film forums.
