Before Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy became the first Vietnamese representative to be crowned Miss International, many Vietnamese beauties had registered for this contest but did not go far.
For 9 years, runner-up Thuy Van was the person holding the best achievement of Vietnam at Miss International, before Thanh Thuy won the first crown.
In 2015, runner-up Thuy Van of Miss Ao Dai 2014 represented Vietnam at Miss International 2015.
In the end, Thuy Van was named 3rd runner-up of Miss International 2015. Her performance in the behavioral round that year was the factor that impressed the judges. After the competition night, Missosology honored Thuy Van as one of the contestants with the best answers.
Despite having an international title, Thuy Van still competed in Miss Universe Vietnam 2019. She won second runner-up and had no chance to compete at Miss Universe.
After that, Thuy Van did not work with the top 3 contestants even though she was in office.
Putting aside the noise, in July 2020, Thuy Van got married to a businessman 10 years older than her - Nhat Vu.
After giving birth to her first child, Thuy Van actively participated in entertainment activities. In 2022, Thuy Van suddenly entered the music industry and released the MV "Love Heart".
In addition, runner-up Thuy Van also tried her hand at many different fields such as MC and model. She confided: “Thuy Van was an International runner-up at the age of 22, but if I were to live with the title of International runner-up at the age of 25 or 30, I would not have life experience. And for me, life experience is very important.”
The beauty is also the director of a media company, works hard at charity and actively participates in community activities with the Inspired by She fund she founded.
In April 2023, Thuy Van announced that she graduated from RMIT University at the age of 30.
Previously, Thuy Van graduated from Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture and Arts, and in 2018 she studied at RMIT Vietnam.
However, because of her beauty pageant schedule, then getting married and having children, Thuy Van put her studies on hold. Only when she had settled down did she return to school to complete her studies as she had set out her goals.
Sharing on her YouTube channel about her learning journey over the years, Thuy Van sent a message to viewers: “I am 30 years old, have a child and am considered late compared to everyone else, but I still graduated and did everything like this even though my journey was the opposite of everyone else's, working before going to school.
However, that does not stop me from doing what I want, such as going back to school or doing whatever I want. So everyone should be determined and do it because we only live once."
Runner-up Thuy Van's full name is Pham Hong Thuy Van, born in 1993. She became known to the audience when she was crowned Miss Ao Dai Vietnam 2014.
