In a recent interview, actor Im Si Wan, who plays Lee Myung Gi in Netflix's hit drama “Squid Game 2,” shared his thoughts on working with T.O.P and Big Bang's G-Dragon.
When recalling his time as a Kpop idol (member of ZE:A), Im Si Wan described Big Bang as “the idol of all idols”, and even a greeting from Big Bang when passing by became a hot topic, because Big Bang were “great singers”.
In “Squid Game 2”, Im Si Wan and T.O.P had action scenes to film together, so the two went to acting class together.
Im Si Wan recalled a specific scene and praised T.O.P's professionalism: "We were all in the air for a scene, and that's when T.O.P broke his ribs. I know how painful it was from my own experience, but he kept going through it. That's when I realized that their level of professionalism was truly extraordinary."
While working with G-Dragon on a variety show, Im Si Wan admitted that, although they are the same age, G-Dragon is still in a different position: "Isn't he someone who leads an entire culture? When I'm with someone like that, I feel like I'm in another world.
It's really admirable. The weight of that position must be huge, but he's endured it all, and I have a lot of respect for him."
When asked about the mixed reviews regarding T.O.P's acting, Im Si Wan said that it was the subjective opinion of each audience, so having mixed comments was natural.
However, Im Si Wan pointed out, T.O.P brought something unique to the role, and Si Wan himself could not play a character like Thanos.
“Squid Game 2” is currently at the top of Netflix’s most-watched non-English-language TV show chart globally for the second consecutive week, with 68 million (week 1) and 58.2 million views (week 2) respectively.
