On the afternoon of March 20, LKB & Partners Law Firm, legal representative of Gold Medalist - Kim Soo Hyun management company - stated: "Today, we have filed a lawsuit against Kim Se Eui - the operator of YouTube channel Garosero, along with the family of the late actor Kim Sae Ron and an individual who claimed to be her aunt.
These people provided and distributed a sensitive photo of Kim Soo Hyun (a photo of him wearing clothes at home and washing dishes in Kim Sae Ron's kitchen) via a live broadcast channel on YouTube, violating the Special Law on punishing sexual crimes (including the act of distributing sensitive images).
The company emphasized that the photo of Kim Soo Hyun posted by YouTube channel Garosero was taken while Kim Soo Hyun and the late actor Kim Sae Ron were dating, when she was an adult.
This is a sensitive photo that can make Kim Soo Hyun feel ashamed and sexually hurt. This image should not be made public and there is no reason for it to be made public.
Posting it on YouTube is a clear crime. Moreover, Garosero has threatened to continue releasing similar images to put pressure on Kim Soo Hyun. Therefore, Gold Medalist has no choice but to take strong legal action against this behavior, said a legal representative of Gold Medalist.
YouTube channel operator Garosero - Kim Se Eui was sued for posting photos on his channel, Kim Sae Ron's family and Kim Sae Ron's aunt were sued for providing those photos to Kim Se Eui, causing sensitive photo dissemination to be illegal.
The company added that it had refrained from taking legal action against Kim Sae Ron's family out of respect for her passing. However, illegally distributing sensitive photos of Kim Soo Hyun is a serious act that cannot be ignored.
If misinformation spreading continues, Gold Medalist will take comprehensive legal action to protect the honor of its company and artists.
Previously, YouTube channel Garosero and Kim Sae Ron's family resolutely accused Kim Soo Hyun of having a relationship with Kim Sae Ron since she was a minor (2015 to 2021).
But Kim Soo Hyun's side confirmed that he dated Kim Sae Ron from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, when she was an adult.
The photos and videos provided by Kim Sae Ron's family to Garosero posted on YouTube confirmed by Gold Medalist were all data from 2019-2020, when the two were dating, not 2016 as the family claimed.
