This is the first time "Detective Kien" has surpassed "Flip Side 8" in terms of revenue for the day. However, Ly Hai's film is only a few tens of millions of VND behind and can completely break through to take the top spot in the race for revenue on the day.
Previously, on May 1, the movie "Flip Side 8" earned 20 billion VND, while "Detective Kien" had a budget of 14 billion VND.
According to the reporter's records, at theaters in Hanoi, many audiences bought tickets to watch these two films as a way to entertain during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
After a few days of early screening with limited screenings, "Detective Kien" has broken through, recording high theatrical opening, doubled the screenings.
Since April 30, Victor Vu's film has been shown in more than 3,200 times, shortening the gap with "Flip Side 8" (more than 4,700 times). On May 1, "Flip Side 8" and "Detective Kien" had more than 4,200 and 3,100 screenings, respectively, with the difference in daily revenue between the two films also decreasing from 10 billion VND to 6 billion VND.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, audience Nguyen Phuong Thao (Dong Da) said that she chose to watch the movie "Flip Side 8" because she was curious about the content of the movie and interested in family topics.
Phuong Thao has a habit of going to the cinema to watch movies during holidays, often choosing familiar, close topics to watch with friends and family.

Meanwhile, "Detective Kien" with most of its successful positive "reviews" arouses curiosity among young audiences. Trinh Thu Hong (20 years old, Thanh Xuan) shared that comments and reviews about the film have a big impact on her decision to watch the film.
"When deciding to watch a drama, I go online first to read the comments of those who have watched it. I see that in the days before it was released, the movie Lat mat 8 received mixed reviews, while detainator Kien seems to have received a lot of praise. I also watched The Last Wife and was curious about the theme of detective and spirituality, so I had to go to the cinema to watch it right away.
Before that, I watched "The Heart Light" during Tet. Personally, I feel attractive when the film incorporates Vietnamese folk elements, especially the setting during the feudal period," Thu Hong said.

During the holiday, the screenings of "Detective Kien" and "Flip Side 8" have differences between theatrical clusters. At the National Cinema Center or some BHD cinemas, the screening of "Detective Kien" is more crowded than "Flip Side 8".
In someCSV theaters, the screening of "Flip Side 8" far surpassed "Detective Kien". Ly Hai's film started smoothly when it was given many screenings nationwide byCSV distributors, significantly dominating the remaining films.
The breakthrough of "Detective Kien" shows that the themes of spirituality, detectives, and horror are still popular in the Vietnamese film market, when a work without a box office star still has good revenue, expected to soon reach the hundred billion mark.

Previously, Ly Hai had a hit series of "Flip Side" series, many of which surpassed the hundred billion mark such as "Flip Side 6" earning 272 billion VND, "Flip Side 7" earning 482 billion VND.
Meanwhile, Victor Vu has films such as " Mat Biec" with more than 180 billion VND, "Nguoi Duoc Nhat" with 100 billion VND...
